As mothers in an age of ever increasing choices in technology and all aspects of life, it is easy to become overwhelmed. Add to that mix the medical appointments, therapy sessions, extra driving, behavior issues, dietary issues, etc. being overwhelmed can easily progress to being completely panicked.

We would do well to remember the example of Mary and Martha. While Martha stressed herself with too much activity, Mary chose what was most important -- to sit at the feet of Jesus. Learn to streamline as much as you can. Try to consolidate errands as much as possible. Keep meals simple; use your crockpot or prepare a simple meal of grilled meat, rice and salad. An occasional "breakfast for supper" works too.

Declutter! Many of us accumulate too many books and toys. When you start finding it difficult to keep track of what you have and are frequently losing things, it is time to declutter.

Pick one area of improvement at a time to work with your child on, especially if you are working with more than one child. Go easy on yourself!

It is so easy for us to overestimate what we can do in one day, yet we can easily overlook what we can accomplish over time if we stay the course and persevere.
